If I Get Raided Should I Continue on That Server Rust

When all players belonging to a tool cupboard have been offline for more than 2 hours or so, than offline protection kicks in until someone on the TC logs back in. All this does is make the base x4 or so more durable but not impossible to raid.

Feeling obligated to logon every 6 hours on the weekend to check your base is insane. People should still be able to offline raid, but it shouldn't be a strategy against people with a healthy sleep schedule. It's no question that the current meta is wait until a rival clan/player is in bed at 3am, then zerg their entire base with rockets with no one else online, and humble brag all wipe about raiding them. All it does is cause players to quit servers.

I feel this is a little too op but something definetily needs to be done.

Cool, so instead of needing 100 rockets to raid a cave base I'll only need 400 :D

Also imagine they took over your base in the raid and left it sealed to decay, now it would be x4 harder to recover it.

Well people will instantly exploit it by only giving one person of the clan building privilege, and that one person is constantly offline. When you really have to build something you'll have to manage a bit, but that's about it. BOOM your team is online and has offlline protection. Way too many ways to exploit this. Better focus on traps to make offline raiding better. Also, with electricity, you could make it so you get an E-Mail warning or such if you're being attacked.

i hear ya, there is a few things that need to be put into place to make this nonabusable. such as doors becoming active "wakes" the offline protection and other keypad fiddling. This isnt a simple 1 paragraph solution, but a good starter discussion to see where it could go.

another situation to assist could be a TC related resource that gives you offline protection for a certain amount of time similar to how the current decay system works. this post also brings to light how hard it is to associate players inside of a team or building as a "owner".

in regards to players not authorizing to trigger offline protection, theyd also forfeit being able to use traps and adding resources to the tool cupboard.

yes i like using 2 stacking of explosive ammo on a sheet metal door, hell no

Too many ways to balance/tweak this to keep it from being abused. I wouldn't fall for the "well what if" straw man arguments/points. It is a difficult thing to implement and as one said before, something needs to be done.

If this were to be implemented I would definitely not allow this just to be something added easily like an option on a tool cupboard or something standard. Maybe an option that can be turned on by server admins to be server wide? But at that point there are already mods for that. It would make much more sense if it was an item powered by electricity that can be built into your base. If you have seen the Purge the securtiy systems there would make sense, except not only windows and doors but walls as well. This would also add another element to raiding because it would make raiders want to consider getting to the control room to limit explosives versus trying to get to the tc right away. Would be a huge draw on electricity hence why you would only turn it night at night. Could also add a heart beat sensor so anyone not authorized would go into a lock down mode turning in door turrets on as well.

My two cents

The solution is simple… have servers that are not online 24/7. If your server was up only the same 3 hours each day, hours you are available for, then even if not online can have detector notify you phone of raids
